According to a recent article in The Breast Journal, smoking 100 or more cigarettes might substantially increase a woman’s odds of developing breast cancer. Therefore, a female smoker can reduce her risk of breast cancer by quitting smoking as soon as possible.

Truly, we all should support this awareness mission and spread awareness in every possible way. It is for our society and a fight against the disease.

Race for the Cure is a wonderful charity event. My wife always contributes to the Austin TX branch of this charity each year. This year, Austin's Race for the Cure event is on November 1 at the Domain.

Most breast lumps are detected by the patient, not the medical provider...Remember to perform your monthly self-breast exam. Also, although breast cancer is considered a predominantly female issue, there are rare cases of male breast cancer. So, if you detect a breast lump, don't neglect to have it evaluated by your medical provider.

I encourage you to tell your readers to do BOTH mammograms and self exam, not one OR the other. I was diagnosed this year with a breast cancer that did NOT show up on mammogram. Women really should be examined by a medical professional, get mammograms as perscribed AND DO BSE - all of them, for the best protection.

Its right. We need to create the awareness among the people. If we get together then we can surely prevent this disease from spreading out.
Thanks to JAY for writing such an important blog for all of us.
