Demand isn't that high... it the speculators buying futures coupled with low production (on purpose) by OPEC.

It is depressing, especially when you consider the future and where prices are likely to go. Maybe I am a pessimist, but I sadly do not see prices going down. The demand is getting way too high to have any hope for gas prices being even what they were a year ago.

Did you read about those pumps that are charging by the half gallon because the meters are not caliberated to take more than $3.50 per gallon or so?

I stopped the last fill up at $85. The tank wasn't full, but I was. I think premium in North Scottsdale is just a shade under $4.50. I try not to look too closely at it, as its starting to make me angry when I think about it.

Putting 35 gallons of $5/gallon diesel in my truck, the few times a year it needs it almost requires a pre-approval letter from my mortgage guy to AMEX.

I'm 'lucky' enough to happen to have an oversized gas tank, so I've been paying over $100 per fill up for many months now. I just count my blessings my ride has been paid off since about 11 months after I bought it new because my monthly gas bill looks more like an average car payment.

I've always wanted a motorcycle. My lovely bride has always swiftly denied that thought.

Just the other day, she actually entertained it....

Clearly a bike wouldn't fly for showing homes (motorized or otherwise). But for short trips, commutes, and much of general "driving about" it wouldn't be a bad alternative. Well, until a snowbird pulls out in front of you....

And all you people paying $4.40+ have yet another reason to move to Phoenix!

Ugh...paid $4.43/gallon today. We're getting closer and closer to $5!

Ha, rates went from 5.99 to 6.25 in the course of the week and gas went from $3.99 to $4.43....

Depressing yes, but if you look around there are still lots of cars on the roads so one could argue that the gas companies still haven't got to a significant price point where demand is dropping significantly to warrant them dropping prices.

It's still cheap compared to Ireland. We just got back from a trip a few weeks ago and it was over $10 a gallon. I said I would never complain about gas again. I'm not happy about the gas prices but as a country it is going to force us to deal with something that we haven't been willing to look at. We need to solve our energy problem. The paradigm has shifted quickly, GM just announced that they are going small. Suv's just don't fit the new paradigm anymore. I don't think I will mind driving a Prius.

We're averaging about $3.94 in Athens, GA right now, but I was able to fill up yesterday for $3.84 using my grocery store rewards card - I was so excited it made me nauseous!

and thats just regular unleaded

Diesel is 5.00 or more a gallon

We're at about 4.40 in LA.... I was in mammoth a week ago and it was around 4.60 ........ haven't broken $75 mark... hit maybe $65 ish...
