They're afraid of having a spate of a few hundred of those 3-worded comments like "good post" or "keep up the good work" kinda thing. What i find on my personal blog, really is that i indeed have a little more of such comments, but it really encouraged more quality comments to emerge. It's a little pain for a huge gain -- to be able to know what our readers think and feel about what we write.
